Hey there, I'm Anthony Goodwin. I am part of the Riverbend Psychology & Wellness Group.
As a counseling therapist with 20 years of experience in community, correctional, disability, social, and community services, I prioritize clinical-focused and humanistic care.
My life journey has been rich and diverse; I have been a business owner/operator, cocktail bartender, massage therapist, actor, and improviser, among other roles. This varied background has equipped me with a broad and unique perspective that I bring to therapy.
I work with a diverse clientele, specializing in complex mental health issues, trauma and stress-related disorders, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grievance and loss, addictions, and significant life transitions.
I am committed to cultural competence and practice intersectional, inclusive therapy, with experience serving Indigenous and LGBTQ2S communities.
I utilize a combination of Humanistic and Narrative therapies, REBT/DBT, person-centered and strengths-based techniques, as well as trauma-focused therapies, including trauma-sensitive yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and other creative tools.
I am here to support you wherever you are in your mental health journey. I have honored my ability to help clients reach a state of stabilization, allowing for natural progress in their healing journey.
With my counseling tools, I blend clinical techniques to create personalized solutions tailored to each client's unique needs.
I hold a Bachelor of Counseling Degree from the Australian College of Applied Psychology, specializing as a Counseling Therapist. Since 2018, I have been a member of the Canadian Professional Counselors Association and have been part of the Association of Counseling Therapy of Alberta since its inception in 2020. I maintain current liability insurance and am covered by numerous major medical insurance providers (see FAQ)
Additionally, I serve as an improv teacher at Grindstone Theater Society, where I conduct a mental health-focused class called Improv 100 visit https://www.grindstonetheatre.ca/education

My fees are as follows for in person & virtual sessions.
$180 / 1 hour session

I can work with your organization or community to develop and facilitate a range of group therapy or standalone workshops based on your needs.
For example - I have developed and conduct improv-based therapy, where I use playful, safe games, exercises mixed with therapeutic tools to achieve profound outcomes. I also have access to spaces to hold these workshops through Grindstone theater company.
As a Counselor, I cannot provide psychological assessments or diagnoses. However, I keep a copy of the DSM-5 handy, and can guide you through the process, providing the appropriate recommendations, drawing on my solid understanding of current clinical knowledge and evidence-based treatment guidelines for various psychological disorders and conditions. I also have extensive experience collaborating with clinically supportive teams to ensure appropriate referrals, ongoing care, and support.
send me a message with your questions

I can work with you to provide out of session support, for those with chronic mental health issues, which we can create together, on a case by case basis. However this will be limited to my availability, and ideally, I will be a part of your extended support system, not a primary point of contact in crisis.
